Musical Person and Music Artist
A "Musical Person," as defined by renown music educator, Dr. John Feierabend, is someone who is "tuneful, beatful, and artful." This is someone who: is able to sing in tune as well as catch tunes and is comfortable singing alone and with others; is able to keep the beat in both duple and triple and is comfortable moving with others; is sensitive to the expressiveness in music. This is the initial goal for all music students here at CES and is the focus for Grades K-2.
A "Music Artist" is defined by Dr. Feierabend as someone who is balanced between music literacy, performance or the doing of music, and knowing about music. This is the focus for students in Grades 3-5 and is necessary to prepare them for any musical endeavor they may wish to pursue in the future.
